Please leave out passwords, access keys, and private records about other people. If we need a file, we’ll suggest a safe way to share it.
Privacy when asking for help
Please leave out student records, grades, account passwords, institutional access tokens, and identifying information about anyone receiving support.
Common questions
What is a Backpack?
A single file with one college’s programs, forms, offices and key dates. Import a .backpack file once and it works offline. Counselors can make and share their own.
What happens when I choose Check links?
After you confirm, the app contacts the websites linked in the selected Backpack. Each site receives its address, including any information written in it. Keep private information out of links. The app does not attach your plans, questions, notes or Backpack file, and importing or editing a Backpack never starts a check automatically.
Does the app work without internet?
Yes. On iPhone and iPad, planning, reference search and archive import and export all work offline. Saved references have retrieval dates; check current requirements, deadlines and course availability with your institution.
Is this an official degree evaluation?
No. Education Compass helps with reference and preparation. For degree evaluations, enrollment decisions or deadlines, contact the responsible institution.
Where is my work saved?
On your device. Export a copy with the Share sheet if you want one elsewhere.
How do I move my archive to a new device?
Export the collection from the old device and import the file on the new one.
Is Education Compass an official college app?
No. It is an independent project. Schools and counselors can provide their own Backpacks. Confirm official requirements with the institution.
